CORDELE — Just after 8 p.m. this evening the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office and Crisp County EMS responded to the scene of an accident on Hwy 41 South. The driver of the vehicle ran off the roadway and struck a tree. Upon arrival at the scene, investigators discovered the driver had a gunshot wound to his head.

Hwy 41 just before the fairgrounds up to trucker’s route was blocked off and traffic was being detoured. Authorities have confirmed that the driver died as a result of his injuries. It has not been determined if he was shot before the crash.
