“He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying.”
Matthew 28:6

CORDELE — This Sunday the nation will celebrate Easter. To many it is just a time to wait for the Easter Bunny, hide eggs and gorge on candy. To others it is a day celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ after he paid the price for the sins of mankind by being nailed to a cross and crucified on Calvary.
“That is what Easter is really about,” said Donna Stripling of Hand of Hope in Cordele. “It is not all about bunnies and eggs. It is about the sacrifice that Jesus made on Calvary. He gave his life for us.”
Stripling said she felt the need to do something to help remind people of the real reason Easter is celebrated. On Friday, March 25, Hand of Hope asks the public to stand up for Jesus and “March with the Cross.”
A cross will be carried through the streets of Cordele beginning at Hand of Hope at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, March 25. The march will head south on Hwy 41 (7th Street), turn East and travel down 24th Avenue to Hwy 90 then turn left traveling North on 90 to Hwy 280 (16th Ave). The march will travel West on Hwy 280 back to Hwy 41 (7th Street) then travel South again, ending up back at the Hand of Hope.
“This is an opportunity for ALL of God’s children to come together and honor Jesus’ sacrifice,” said Stripling. “God gave us His only son, who died for us.”
Stripling said that March with the Cross is for people of all denominations, ages, and races and she hopes to see the people come together.
“We would like for everyone who can to march. If you can’t do the entire route come and jump in where you can. If you cannot walk line the streets along the route and show that you stand up for Jesus. Get together and pray for revival in our community, our state, our nation and the world.”
