CORDELE – Graveside funeral services for Betty M. Williams, 91, will be at 11 a.m., Monday, April 11, 2016 at Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church social hall.
Mrs. Williams died Sunday morning, April 3, 2016 at Crisp Regional Health and Rehab. She was born in Albany, Ga. to the late Jessie Harmon Merritt and the late Minnie Ella Allen Merritt. She was married to the late Homer C. Williams for 42 years.
She was a graduate of Grady Hospital School of Nursing. She retired from Crisp County Hospital as operating room supervisor after 20 years. She also served as county nurse for Coffee County. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and taught Sunday School for many years. She was also a member of the Ebenezer Homemaker’s Club and many other civic organizations.
Mrs. Williams was a talented seamstress. She made many items of clothing for her children, other family members and friends. She was also accomplished in the French sewing style. She was known to make beautiful table cloths as long as 12 feet.
She is survived by her son: Gib Williams of Cordele; her daughter: Marcia Morris and her husband Ben of Cordele; and her grandchildren: Chris Morris, Kim Morris, Merritt Williams and Cory Williams.
