All About Seniors: Where do you get your “News”?

Remember back in the “Good old days” we had three choices on our black & white TV’s: CBS, NBC and ABC. And if  we didn’t like what Walter Cronkite was saying you could get up off the sofa, turn the  rotary dials and choose Chet Huntley and David Brinkley on NBC or Howard K. Smith and Harry Reasoner on ABC. For the most part, any one of them would report real news.
As I reflect back, things began to change drastically in the 60’s with the divide that came over the nation on such issues as The Vietnam War, The Civil Rights Movement, Elvis, The Beatles and The Hippies with their sexual revolution.
Nowadays, TV news has morphed into a 24/7 infotainment industry that has carved up the nation into demographic profiles in order to sell us pills and potions to cure everything from Erectile Dysfunction (Can you imagine nonstop ads for Viagra alongside “Father Knows Best”), to every imaginable kind of ache and pain, including “Emotional Pain & Suffering” the lawyers are trying to sell us so we’ll use them to sue our neighbors.
No, unfortunately, it’s not the same America that we seniors grew up in. But since it’s happened slowly over decades it’s easy to miss what’s going on. Today, ALL news (including that purporting to be “Fair and Balanced”) comes to us with a significant bias based on the worldview of those with the microphone: Most are liberal (as confirmed by various media studies), some radically liberal and driven by the LGBT agenda and a few conservative.
It is important that we as an electorate know which is which, especially in this election year. So far, not only has this election cycle has been radically different than any other I remember, but so has the news coverage. It seems that the media can’t get enough of Donald Trump, no matter what he says or does. On the other hand there is Bernie who wants to turn us into a socialist nation and Hillary …..will she ever be indicted for putting all our Top Secret info on her home computer? Oh, and by comparison, almost a total blackout of that Constitutional guy. What was his name?……Oh yes, Ted Cruz. But then, right there my bias is showing. So you have to know who and what you’re listening to and what they’re trying to sell you.
For the most part we’ve turned off the TV at our house and instead try to glean our news from:
The Wall Street Journal (Not the same paper it used to be since Rupert Murdoch bought it out)
The Drudge Report (Going for more sensational and salacious news these days and totally biased for Trump)
AFR (American Family Radio) with it’s ONE NEWS  NOW smart phone app, and
LevinTV.com, a new hour long commercial free,  TV broadcast by Mark Levin,
M-F. (He is a constitutional conservative from the Reagan Administration, has endorsed Ted Cruz and has a minimum of 7.75 million total weekly listenership according to Talkers Magazine.[21]
The New Living Translation of the Bible says in Proverbs 9:10 “Fear of the LORD is the foundation of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment.” My fear is that since we have largely thrown God out of our public concscience, we will not use good judgment in who we elect. May God spare us from who we deserve!
