CORDELE— Funeral services for Henry A. Barefoot, Sr. were held at 4 p.m., Monday, May 9, 2016, in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. Burial followed in Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Tony Dixon and Rev. J. R. Smith officiated the services.
Alex Clements, pianist, played for the service. He also accompanied himself as he sang “Jesus Is Coming Soon.” Glorybound also sang “Celebrate Me Home.”
Active pallbearers were: Marcus Wehunt, Mike Holder, Ed Herrington, Landon Smith, Bruce Smith and Brian Smith. Honorary pallbearers were: J. W. Blackwell, Jackie Clements, Harold Ergle, Stephen Godwin, Duain Hobbs, David Brogdon and Larry Conley.
Mr. Barefoot, 72, a native of Wilcox County, passed away Friday, May 6, 2016, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Ga. He was the son of the late Raymond Barefoot and the late Lillie McGehee Barefoot. Mr. Barefoot was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. Mr. Barefoot was a retired plant supervisor for Lasco Industries.
Mr. Barefoot is survived by his wife of 53 years: Joyce M. Barefoot of Cordele; his sons: Arthur Barefoot of Statesboro, Ga. and Scott Barefoot and his wife Lyndona of Bainbridge, Ga.; his daughter:  Joanne Clark and her husband Russ of Cordele, Ga.; his brother: Norman Barefoot and his wife Jane of McDonough, Ga.; his sister: Essie Pipkin and her husband Ike of Cochran, Ga.; his grandchildren: Calvin Barefoot, Nikki Barefoot, Tiffany Phillips and her husband Mike, Autumn Barefoot, Shannon Barefoot, Savannah Barefoot and Teagan Barefoot; and his great-grandchild: Avery Phillips.
