CHATTANOOGA, TN. — A service to remember the life of Catherine Cobb Helms was held on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at the First Presbyterian Church in Chattanooga, Tennessee with the Rev. Robert Row officiating. A private graveside service followed at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Ms. Helms passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at her residence.
Born on September 13, 1927 she was the daughter of Florence Allen Cobb and Guy Taylor Cobb, Sr. of Cordele. She left Cordele in 1947 after her marriage to husband Nolan Davis Helms. The couple spent time in Atlanta before settling in Chattanooga.
In addition to her parents her husband, Nolan Davis Helms, Sr. and her brother Guy T. Cobb, Jr. preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister; Merrilyn Cobb Barry of Albany, GA., and her four sons; Nolan Davis Helms Jr. (Mary) of Signal Mountain, TN., Don Helms (Sandye) of Chattanooga, TN., Rob Helms (Marilyn) of Raleigh, NC and Guy Helms (Kathy) of Worland, WY. Eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews also survived her.
