Subway robbed at gunpoint

CORDELE — Officers with the Cordele Police Department are searching for a suspect they say robbed a local restaurant.

Subway, located in the 1800 block of East 16th East, became the latest victim of armed robbery in the city. According to reports from the CPD a white male described as being between the ages of (25-35) entered the restaurant wearing a light blue shirt, blue jogging pants, tennis shoes and a camouflage hat. He ordered a sandwich and sat down to eat. After all the customers had exited the restaurant the suspect finished his meal.

Reports indicated he then stood up and reached under his shirt, and it appeared he was reaching for a weapon. He then walked to the door leading to the kitchen and upon entering he forced employees to the register. Store employees complied and once the cash drawer was open he grabbed what cash was inside. He then forced the employees into the women’s bathroom and fled the scene.
