Watermelon Days have arrived

This is Your Life Honoree Judge John Pridgen and National Watermelon Queen Carla Penney cut the ribbon to officially kick off the 67th Annual Watermelon Days Festival in the Watermelon Capital of the World. There will be numerous events held throughout the month leading up to the annual parade and Watermelon Arts and Crafts on Saturday, June 25. The Cordele-Crisp Chamber of Commerce and several area businesses (including the Dispatch) has fliers available that highlight all of this year’s activities which will begin with the Annual Watermelon Queen Pageant which will be held at the Crisp County Middle School beginning at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 4. A total of 25 young ladies will be competing for one of four coveted crowns and will reign over all things watermelon for coming year. Those contestants are featured on a special page in Saturday’s edition, Page 7A.
