PINEHURST — A. Wayne Smith, Jr., “Chip,” age 61, of 1750 Findley Road, Pinehurst, died Monday, June 13, 2016, at Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele.

Chip was born in Griffin to A. Wayne Smith and Lewellyn Dearing Smith and was a retired school teacher. He was a member of Vienna First Baptist Church and the Claire Williamson Sunday School Class. He also served as narrator for many cantatas and programs at the church. Chip was extremely proud of his family and he also loved his dogs.

During the past year, since his cancer diagnosis, Chip remained positive and upbeat and showed tremendous courage.

He is survived by his wife, Marvelyn M. Smith of Pinehurst; his daughter, Jeri Lynn Wilson (Jason)of Atlanta; his son, A. Wayne Smith, III “Tripp” of Savannah; his parents, A. Wayne and Lewellyn Smith of Griffin; his sisters, Robin Jenkins (Danny) of Williamson and Debbie Maner of Griffin.

Funeral services will be at 11 AM Wednesday, June 15 in Vienna First Baptist Church with interment in Vienna City Cemetery.
