CANCUN — Ronald F. Pitts, 67, died Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at his residence in Cancun, Mexico.  Memorial Services will be held Sunday, June 26, 2016 at 3:00 P.M. at Pleasant View Baptist Church.  The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of the church following the services.

Ronald was born in Cordele, Georgia and was a 1967 graduate of Crisp County High School. He is preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Felder Pitts. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and a Purple Heart recipient. He also received the Navy Marine Core Achievement Award for Valor while serving in the United States Marines. He also served in the United States Coast Guard. He was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church.

Ronald was a free spirited man. He was a certified ship’s navigator and enjoyed traveling and seeing the world. He was a certified PADI Scuba instructor. He enjoyed reading, classic Rock music and hiking. He had been a 22 year resident of Cancun.

He is survived by his mother: Juanita Pitts of Pitts; his sisters: Donna (Steve) Rousey of Cordele and Janet (Joey) James of Warwick; his nieces and nephews: Maribeth (Rusty) Slade, Ashley (Keith) Sirmans and Edward James; several great-nieces and great-nephews; beloved best friend: Rusty Wright of Cordele, Ga.
