Ralph Glenn Talley

HAWKINSVILLE — Ralph Glenn Talley, 68, passed away peacefully at his home on July 30, 2016.  A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 6, 2016 in Pope City Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Allen officiating.

Ralph was born on December 23, 1947 to Maggie (Bell) Talley and Homer C. Talley in the town of Pope City.  He joined the U. S. Navy at the age of 17.  He departed from Wilcox County to join the U. S. Navy the day after he graduated.  He was an Aviation Ordnanceman during the Vietnam War upon the USS Ticonderoga.  He saw many different places, people and cultures and was a golden glove boxer while in the Navy.  He finished his four years of service before his twenty-first birthday.  He returned to Georgia and became a photographer for Blue Bird in Fort Valley where he met the love of his life Priscilla (Becky) Dunn and in the years that followed, they created three beautiful children, Dax, Richard and Amanda, which in turn gave them three beautiful grandchildren, Richie and Skye Talley and Garrett Owens.  They celebrated 46 years of marriage on July 24th.  He retired in 2009 as a General Superintendent after 37 years in construction management. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Homer C. Talley; mother, Maggie (Bell) Talley and his son Richard Glenn Talley.  His survivors include his wife, Priscilla (Becky) Talley; son, Dax (Mark) Talley; daughter, Amanda Owens; two grandsons, Richie Talley and Garrett Owens; granddaughter, Skye Talley; sister, Gayle Calhoun and brother, Clifton (Marsha) Talley and many nieces and nephews. 

In lieu of flowers the family requests that a donation be made in Ralph Talley’s name to Joe DiMaggio’s Children’s Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
