VIENNA — With the recent confirmation of a rabies case in Cordele, the City of Vienna is urging citizens to have their pets inoculated annually.

A rabies clinic will be held in the Downtown Square in Vienna on Saturday, September 24, 2016. The event will be held from 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m. Pet owners can bring their dogs and cats to the square to receive their rabies inoculation for $10 per animal (cash or check only). Pets must be on a leash or in a crate.

Vienna Animal Control would like to remind the public that it is also the law to have your pets vaccinated. Animal control officers there advise pet owners the clinic will be the final warning issued for animals in need of the vaccine. The fine for not having pets inoculated in the City of Vienna is $98 per animal. In Cordele the fine is $100 per animal for the first offense.

Dr. Rick Weidner will be administering the shots. There have been no reported cases of rabies in the City of Vienna.
