W. T. “Billy” Greene

CORDELE — Funeral services for W. T. “Billy” Greene, 81, were held at 5 p.m., Tuesday, August 30, 2016 in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. Rev. Linda Osborne, Rev. Royce Freeman and Rev. James Davis officiated. Mr. Greene’s grandson, Jason Ellis, gave the eulogy.  Marcene Freeman, pianist, played “How great Thou Art” and “Because He Lives” during the service. Burial followed at Sunnyside Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Jason Ellis, Jarrod Ellis, Blake Greene, Michael Castleberry, Benny Smith and Kenny Sheffield. Honorary pallbearers were member of the Georgia State Patrol and other law enforcement members.

Billy died Sunday morning, Aug. 28, 2016 at PruittHealth Care in Ashburn, Ga. He was born in Cordele, Ga. to the late Loron Collum Greene and the late Sarah Clifford Posey Greene. He was a farmer and former co-owner of Cordele Auto Supply. He was a founding director of Central Savings Bank and attended Hatley United Methodist Church.

Surviving Billy is his wife: Frances B. Greene; his children: Danny (Paula) Greene and Gail (Randy) Ellis all of Cordele; his sister: Laverne (Ben) Smith of Abbeville, Ala.; his grandchildren: Jason Ellis, Blake Greene, Angie G. Castleberry and Jarrod Ellis; and 10 great-grandchildren.
