The Baby Cougars got off to an extremely fast start against the #3 seeded Lee County West Team and ended up winning 38-6. The Cougars recovered an onside kick to begin the game. The Cougar offense took the field and capitalized with a Raheem Ashley’s 35 yard scamper to hit pay dirt, Perici Gaines tacked on the two point conversion to make it 8-0. The Cougar defense (who has only given up 7 points this year) was stout and stingy as usual. With multiple turnovers on downs by Lee County, the Cougars capitalized on each one with  two touchdowns by Marquez Palmer and AJ Lofton had 132 yards passing and 2 TDs (one pass and a 70 yard run) The defense was led by Chris Paul Jr. with 16 tackles (3 tackles for loss and 2 sacks). Jalen Epps played very well with 2 interceptions. “It was a great way to end the regular season, on a dominating performance”. “Our kids are extremely hungry for this Deep South Championship because it has been 15 years since we had the trophy here, and we are planning to bring it back home,” said Head coach Chris Paul. The Cougars play for the Conference Championship in Cordele on Wednesday Oct. 12th at 5pm in the DEN against Americus.
