Lady Cougars headed to Sweet Sixteen

Last Thursday and Friday the Lady Cougars had to get on the road and travel all the way to Savannah to play in the first round of the playoffs, they won and now they have to leave Wednesday and go to Atlanta to play Westminster. The Lady Cougars dispatched the number two seed from region three in Jenkins and now will be facing off against the number one seed from region five.

In game one action in Savannah the ladies came up short by a 5-4 score with freshman Rilee Duckworth going the distance in all three games. In game one Duckworth scattered 8 hits over 8 innings, struck out 7 and walked 2. On offense Riley Blampied went 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and a triple.

In game two action Duckworth scattered 9 hits with 7 k’s and 1 walk over 7 innings to win 6 to 1. In that game Blampied was 2 for3 with a triple and homerun. Alexis Meadows, Hunter Meadows, Jordan Dickerson, Ansley Mitchell and Shelbi Cobb all gathered a hit each. In game three Duckworth struck out 3, walked 3 and gave up 6 hits but for the second game in a row only one run as the ladies won 10-1. On offense Alexis Meadows was 1 for 3 with a triple, Hunter Meadows went 3 for 4, Blampied was 1 for 2 with a double and Ivy Lewis and Mia Murray both collected a hit. The girls didn’t let themselves get down after dropping the first game and battled back to give to impressive wins, I really can’t say enough about Rilee Duckworth pitching all three games it was great, “ said Head Coach Ben Robbins.
