Cordele – A graveside service for James Louie “Sonny” Spring of Cordele will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, October 27, 2016, in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Worth County. The family will receive friends prior to the service Thursday, beginning at 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. at Rainey Family Funeral Services.

Sonny, 83, passed away Sunday, October 23, at his residence.  Born in Ambrose, he was the son of the late J.T. and Mary Bordeaux Spring. He served his country for 21 years in the Special Forces of the U.S. Army and traveled the world in all but five countries. Sonny was an avid fisherman but always caught and released. He was dedicated to his family and loved every minute that he had with them, especially his grandchildren.

Sonny is survived by his wife of 41 years, Faye Barrow Spring of Cordele; two children, Joey Spring and his wife, Haley Mashburn Spring, and Sherri Ward, both of Savannah; two grandchildren, Lily James Spring and Heather Hoy Lank and her spouse, Stacey Lank; two brothers, Vernon Spring of Doerun and Gordon Spring of Atlanta; and several nieces.
