City Commission Convenes

Eight unsafe buildings were one of the topics on the agenda at the Cordele City Commission regular meeting held Tuesday, November 1.  Irene Cantrell, Cordele’s Housing and Urban Director,  presented her report to the commissioners and a public hearing will be held on Wednesday, November 16, starting at 8:30 a.m.

The annual Chamber of Commerce retreat was held yesterday at Lake Blackshear Resort, where a planning session was in order to discuss the 2017 Plan of Work.

The Crisp County Community Council/Family Connection’s Crisp County Care Awards will be held on Monday beginning at 5:30 p.m. with a networking/auction event followed by dinner/program beginning at 7:00 p.m.

The 2016-2017 Fiscal Year Budget has been presented to the Commission and is available for public review.

Brandon McGirt, the city’s Stormwater Technician submitted timely updates/revisions to the EPD for review.

Work is currently underway to improve sewers in the city, and the Pecan Street Pedestrian Pathway Project is still on hold pending a response from GDOT consultants.

The 2014 Community Housing Improvement Program Grant is currently accepting bids for work on homes approved by the Grant Administrators.  To date, three bids are approved and work will begin on the approved homes.
