Brewton, Alabama – Funeral services for Edna McCarty Bobo, 94, were held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 1, 2016, in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home.  Burial followed in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.  Officiating the services was Rev. Jason Miley, Rev. Jimmy Black, and Rev. J. T. Smith.  Personal remarks were made by Tony Miley and Ronny Miley.

Eula Jo Sheffield, pianist, played for the service. J. P. Smith sang “Anchor Holds” and “Beulah Land.”

Honoring Mrs. Bobo by serving as active pallbearers were Bruce Smith, Brian Smith, Jamie McCarty, Tony Smith, Jeff Collins, and Bob Collins. Also, serving as honorary pallbearers were James Smith, Eric Smith and Marybeth McCarty Evans.

Mrs. Bobo passed away Saturday, October 29, 2016, in Brewton, Alabama.  She was a native of Sumter County, Georgia, and the daughter of the late Virgil Calvin Kitchens and the late Jessie Lou Clark Kitchens. She was predeceased by her husbands Thomas W. McCarty and Quinton A. Bobo. She was also predeceased by her sons Tommy McCarty, Jerry McCarty, James McCarty; and her daughter, Helen McCarty Emerson.

She was a former member of Northern Heights Baptist Church and member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the 39’ers in Cordele. She moved her church membership to Brewton First Baptist when she relocated to Brewton, Ala.

Mrs. Bobo is survived by her children Betty McCarty Smith and her husband J. T. of Cordele, Ga., Bobby McCarty of Cordele, Ga., Cheryl McCarty Collins of Cordele, Shirley McCarty Miley and her husband Ronny of Brewton, Ala. and Mary McCarty Merritt and her husband Jimmy of Cordele; 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
