Raymond T. “Buddy” Bridges

CORDELE — Raymond T. “Buddy” Bridges, 82, died at his residence Tuesday night, Nov. 8, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Nov. 11, 2016 in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m.

He was born in Woodbury, Ga. to Clements and Lena Massengale Bridges. He is preceded in death by his siblings: George Bridges, Jake Bridges, Frances Anderson and Betty Peavy.

Buddy served his country during the Korean War in the U. S. Navy. He was the plant manager for Pabco for 35 plus years. After leaving Pabco, he became the owner and operator of the Cordele Recreation Parlor (The Poolroom) which is known for their hotdogs and other food items. He was also a member of Northern Heights Baptist Church and was well known for talents in gardening.

Surviving Buddy is his loving wife of 60 years: Ruth G. Bridges of Cordele; his sons: Randy James Bridges and his wife Jazmin, Ronald Steven Bridges and his wife Jan and Rodney Todd Bridges all of Cordele; his sister: Jean Pearce of Byron, Ga.; his six grandchildren: Brandon Bridges and his wife Jana, Kristi Beasley and her husband Jeff , Ivy Williams and her husband Johnathan “Bubba”, Alex Bowen, Julia Bowen and Tia Lopez; and seven great-grandchildren.
