A graveside service for Elizabeth “Betty” C. Carter of Cordele was held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Sunnyside Cemetery with Rev. David Thompson officiating. Sandra Windham, soloist, sang two selections, “Ancient Words” and “Jesus Loves Me.” Betty, 88, passed away Saturday, November 26 at Crisp Regional Hospital.  Born in Plains, she was the daughter of the late Luther James Cranford and Mary William Hagerson Cranford.  Betty was a homemaker and a member of Cordele First United Methodist Church. She is survived by three children, James Carter of Saint Helena, CA, Deborah C. Woods of Raleigh, NC and Charles S. Carter, III of Leesburg;   a sister, Marrianne Stevens of Americus; and two granddaughters, Alison Woods and Alia Tamura. The family suggests that memorials may be made to Cordele First United Methodist Church,P.O. Box 871, Cordele, GA 31010. Arrangements are by Rainey Family Funeral Services.
