Allen Kent Waldrip

CORDELE — Allen Kent Waldrip, 80, passed away Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Magnolia Manor in Americus, Ga.  Funeral Services were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016 in the chapel of Hughes and Wright Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery. Rev. Mike Dorough officiated the services.

Jill Gibbs, pianist, played for the service. She also sang “Amazing Grace, My Chains Are Gone.” Frank McGarr sang “Beulah Land.”

Honoring Allen as active pallbearers were Randy Dorough, Dave Hartin, Steve Welchel, Jeff Welchel, Kevin Stephens and Doug Rainey.

Allen was a native of Cordele and the son to the late Klon A. Waldrip and the late Myrtile Wood Waldrip. He was predeceased by Geniene P. Waldrip; brothers: Klon A. Waldrip, Jr. and Charles Waldrip; sisters: Faustine Dorough, Doris Dillinger and Bobbie Jean Bagwell. He was a retired mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. Mr. Waldrip was a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church.

Allen was survived by his son: Kent Waldrip of Cordele, Ga.; daughter: Kara Wildes and her husband David of Cordele, Ga.; grandchildren: Brandon McKinley Wildes, Russell Kent Taunton, Kendall Ashley Waldrip, Laney Michelle Waldrip and Jenna Claire Wildes; and several nieces and nephews.
