Charles Jack Fendley

SYCAMORE — Charles Jack Fendley, 83 passed away Monday, December 12, 2016 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Ga. Graveside services were held Thursday, December 15, 2016 at 3:00 P.M. at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Rev. Lance Fendley officiated the service. Luke Fendley, guitarist, accompanied the congregational hymn “Amazing Grace.”

Honoring Mr. Fendley by serving as active pallbearers were: Matt Fendley, Harold Bodrey, Tim Paramore, Mike Holder, Micah Fendley and Luke Fendley.

Mr. Fendley was a native of Cordele, Ga. and the son to the late Charles Hollis Fendley and the late Lois Valera Finley Fendley. He was predeceased by his siblings: Jimmy Fendley, Jane Bodrey, Gerald Fendley and Lois Brooks. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a retired fabricator for several businesses. Mr. Fendley was a member of the Baptist Faith and enjoyed gardening, outdoors and tinkering. Mr. Fendley was a simple man.

Mr. Fendley is survived by his nieces and nephews: Matt Fendley and his wife Brenda of Niceville, Fl., Dawn Holder and her husband Mike of Cordele, Ga., Darlene Hager of Smithville, Ga., Lance Fendley and his wife Tina of Smithville, Ga., Monroe Bodrey of Americus, Ga., Amy Barras and her husband Chris of Simpsonville, SC., Butch Stubbs of Cordele, Ga., Valeria Theus of Cordele, Ga. and Jessie Lamb of Vienna, Ga.; brothers-in-law: Harold Bodrey of Americus, Ga. and Clyde Brooks of Vienna, Ga.; sister-in-law: Carolyn Fendley of Americus, Ga. and several great- nieces and nephews.
