Funeral services for Danny Wayne Ray of Oakfield will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2017 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services. The committal service, with miltary honors, will follow in Tremont (Ray) Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service Wednesday beginning at 2:00 p.m. Danny Wayne, 59, passed away Monday, January 2, 2017 at Phoebe-Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.  Born in Lake Alfred, FL, he was the son of the late Willie Lee Ray, Sr. and Irene Christmas Ray.  He was a 13-year veteran of the United States Army and was always a big supporter of the POW/MIA Association. He was also a member of the NRA and the Sons of the Confederacy. Danny Wayne is survived by three children, a son and his wife, Steven and Ali Ray of Leesburg, a daughter, Hannah Ray of Oakfield and a son, Bryson Ray of Huntington, PA;   a brother and his companion, Lamar Ray and Judy Bragg, both of Bartow, FL;  two sisters, Dean Green of Lake Alfred, FL and Debra Lamb and her husband, Thomas of Cordele;  and a sister-in-law, Mary Jean Ray of Cordele. He was preceded in death by siblings, Roger Ray, Junior Ray and Sara Dean. The family may be contacted at the residence of Justin and Rachel Lamb, 182 Pinecrest Drive, Cordele.
