William J. “Billy” Greene

William J. “Billy” Greene, 87, of Cordele died Wednesday, April 12, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 15, 2017 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services with burial following in Cedar Creek Cemetery in Crisp County.  The family will receive friends prior to the service Saturday, beginning at 1:00 p.m. He was a native of Crisp County and the son of the late William Henry and Murriel Smith Greene. A veteran of the United States Navy, Billy was a truck driver (RET) with Transus (Georgia Highway Express). He was a faithful member of Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church where he served on the Board of Deacons. Billy loved the outdoors and his “farm” where he planted and shared vegetables with his neighbors and friends. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Frances C. Greene of Cordele; two sons and their wives, Michael and Lisa Greene of Cordele and Bruce and Nanci Greene of Danielsville; nine grandchildren, Jeremy Calhoun, Joey Calhoun, Miranda Spaventa, Jeannie Greene, Brooke Windler, Timothy Windler, Marcus Windler, Cody Greene and Ryan Greene; and four great-grandchildren, Camden Windler, Olivia Windler, Victoria Spaventa and Kyla Ortiz Calhoun; a brother, Wayne Greene of Cordele; and three sisters-in-law, Ann Greene, Betty Greene and Lynda Greene. He was preceded in death by sons, Floyd Henry Greene and Richard Calhoun; and siblings, Thomas Greene, Tony Greene, Floyd Greene, Wynell G. Turner and Mary Jean Greene.
