The 2016-17 season at Crisp County Schools has been nothing short of fabulous. Starting in the fall with Cougar football was  the first of many Region Titles for this year. Crisp County not only went undefeated but also set many records in the process. The Ladies softball team faced some very good squads in their region namely Cook County and Worth County and with really just one Freshman pitcher they maneuvered into the state playoffs as a number3 seed and ended up in Columbus in the Elite 8 for the first time ever. The Cheerleading squad despite a shake up in leadership still managed to win a region title. Next up was Basketball and Cross Country and the CC guys and gals made it to state and finished 4^th. The round ballers won the second ever region title in basketball against stiff competition. They went on to play in the state playoffs. The lady Cougars also drew a state invitation in basketball as well. The Crisp County Wrestling team finished higher than ever before at state and gathered a 2nd place finish in the Area Wrestling meet. For the first time since 2008 both the boys and girls’ tennis teams again won region and are headed to state play. Now with Spring sports in full swing we are beginning to a get a look at how the season will end. Both the track and Golf teams look poised to make it to the State. Baseball  despite a drop off in production this year, is in position to make a run at region runner up. In either way the Cougar diamond squad will make the state playoffs for the 15^th time in the last 17 years. Only in 2009 and 2010 did they miss the playoffs. Oh and how about them Cougar and Lady Cougar Soccer teams. The boys won region for the first time ever and the girls garnered a 2^nd place in region and both are preparing for state play. This is the first ever region title in soccer and the first runner up in region as well. So the total tally for the year so far is 6 region titles, 2 runner-ups and 13 out of 13 teams already gone or heading to state playoffs. That is what one might call a banner year in Cougar history. My bet would be that if we had tiddle e winks or paper football leagues we would win them as well.
