Thomas Watson “Tommy” Theus III, 53, of Cordele passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Augusta University Medical Center in Richmond County.  The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 16, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Rainey Family Funeral Services .  No services will be held at this time. Born in New Port News, VA. Tommy was the son of the late Thomas Watson Theus, Jr. and Luanne Biddle Whittington. A veteran of the United States Navy, Tommy had been employed for many years with Marvair and was an active member of Cordele First United Methodist Church. He always had a sweet smile and a good word for everyone that he met and was always the first person to lend a helping hand to someone in need. Tommy is survived by his wife, Maurine Dinkins Theus of Cordele; two children, Kristina Theus Murphy and her husband, Jay of Dallas, GA and Jenny Theus of Cordele;   three step-children Candie Walters and her husband, Jason, and Heath Dinkins and his fianceé, Jenn, all of Kennesaw and Heather Hatcher and her husband, Josh of Cordele;  his step-father, Javan Whittington of Cordele; two sisters and their husbands, Kathy Theus and Gaylon Brown of Lafayette and Robin and Marty Arnett of Cordele; a step-brother and his wife, James and Phyllis Whittington of Asheville, NC; two grandchildren, Annelise Murphy and Maddie Murphy; and two step-grandchildren, Anna Mae Hatcher and Lily Hatcher; and his dear friend and an angel on earth to Tommy and Maurine, Gladys Waller. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to help the family with funeral expenses to Rainey Family Funeral Services, P.O. Box 416, Cordele, GA 31010.
