Ann M. Wood

Ann M. Wood, age 82 of Montrose, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2017 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, May 28th in the M. G. Frazier Memorial Chapel of Frazier and Son Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour before the service from 2-3 PM in the Chapel. Reverend Steve Hamrick, Reverend Jay Moore and Reverend Jim Faircloth will officiate. Interment will be in the family plot in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Chula.

Mrs. Wood was born on August 25, 1934 in Ashburn, Ga. She was daughter of the late Emory Edwards Mathews and Annie Calline Perry Mathews. She was a retired Postmaster with the U. S. Postal Service with 26 years of service. She was a member of the Montrose Baptist Church, the Adult Sunday School Class and was Assistant Sunday School Teacher. She was also a member of the WMU and the Postmaster’s Association. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse J. Wood, Jr.

Survivors include: sons-Jack (Phyllis) Wood of Montrose and Shawn (Angelin) Wood of Covington, daughters-Karen (Tom) Dykes of Irwington and Cynthia (Chester) Holt of Abbeville, sisters-Hazel Judge of Cordele and Flora Rooks of Ashburn, 9-grandchildren and 3-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be: Jesse Wood, Todd Judge, Edward Rooks, Chet Holt, Todd Purifoy and Andy Cook.

Prelude and postlude will be played by Jan Brown. The congregation will sing “Victory In Jesus” and Vanessa Crosby will sing “How Great Thou Art” and “Sheltered in the Arms of God”.

Frazier and Son Funeral Home in Rochelle has charge of arrangements.
