James Larry “Pops” Young
Funeral services for James Larry “Pops” Young of Vienna were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 28, 2017 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services with Rev. Earl Perry and Rev. Dennis Phillips officiating. The prelude was “Go Rest High On That Mountain.” During the service “Green, Green Grass Of Home” and “My Old Man” were played.  “Daddy’s Hands” was played as the postlude. Pallbearers were Merrill Ward, Ray Reid, Stevie Akins, Donald Chapman, Jim Murray, Buddy Hayslip, Bill Sandefur and Troy Williams. The committal service with Military Honors followed in Tremont “Ray” Cemetery in Crisp County. Larry, 71, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Crisp Regional Hospital.  Born in Sumter County, he was the son of the late Roy Madison and Beuna Donna Snider Young.  He served for several years in the Georgia National Guard. Larry loved his family and his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid fisherman and loved riding motorcycles. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Michael and Susan Davis of Sacramento, CA, Angela D. and Rodney Jacobs and Ken Young, all of Vienna; six grandchildren, Adam Davis and his wife, Whitney of Arabi, Nina Davis of Cordele, Rachel Parker and her husband, Beau of Bainbridge, Landon Jacobs, Anna Young and Hunter Hayslip, all of Vienna; a great-granddaughter, Sadie Davis of Arabi; and a brother and his wife, John and Missy Young of Ashburn.
