Funeral services for Louise G. Akin of Cordele will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 21, 2017 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services. The committal service will follow in Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Wilcox County. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Louise, 73, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele. She was born in Cordele and was the daughter of the late Allen and Ada Colt Gibbs. A homemaker, she loved her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Always a sweet and gentle lady, she wore a sweet smile for all those that she met. She loved tending her flowers and watching them grow and blossom, and feeding her birds. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Andy Akin of Cordele; a son and his fianceé, Randy Akin and Shellie Garrett of Warwick; and three grandchildren, Ivy Akin of Cordele and Kayla Manders and Tommy Manders, both of Warwick. She was preceded in death by brothers, Leonard Gibbs, Clinton Gibbs, Raymond Gibbs, James Gibbs, Ellis Gibbs and Elizy Gibbs; and sisters, Ada Lee Gibbs and Lynn Gibbs.
