Missing Abbeville man found in pond

On Saturday, July 29, 2017 at approximately 6:53 p.m., the Wilcox County Sheriff’s Office responded to a possible missing person call on Hidden Lakes Road North of Abbeville.

Upon their arrival Deputies found that Mr. Radford Jerido was missing.

Mr. Jerido’s truck was parked next to the pond with his boat anchored out near the middle of the pond.

The Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from Wilcox Emergency Management Agency and the Department of Natural Resources.Wheeler County EMA also responded with a sonar device to locate anything under the surface of the water.

Approximately 11:29 p.m.  the body of Mr. Jerido was recovered from the pond.

The cause is still under investigation. Sheriff Rodgers and staff would like to thank everyone who assisted in this incident. We also ask that you join us in prayer for Mr. Jerido’s family and friends during this difficult time.
