Crisp Area Habitat for Humanity applied for and was awarded a $1,500 Home Accessibility Grant. This Home Accessibility Grant was funded by a private donor with Habitat Georgia serving as the fiscal agent.

     This Aging in Place Home Accessibility award was used to reduce barriers of accessibility to senior citizens to remain in their homes (including wheelchair ramps, widening doors, retrofitting bathrooms, etc).

     Mrs. Willie Mae Gaines of Cordele was awarded Crisp Area Habitat for Humanity’s Home Accessibility Grant. This grant allowed Mrs. Gaines’ family and her primary caregiver, her daughter Ms. Dorothy Williams, to safely transport Mrs. Gaines in and out of her home by building a ramp that could safely support a hospital bed.

     Since this ramp was built Mrs. Gaines passed away July 7, 2017 at her home. Bambie Hayes stated that her daughter was able to use the ramp to help get her outside.
