In the regular meeting for the Wilcox County Commissioners that was held on Tuesday, August 1, 2017, Sheriff Robert Rodgers reported on the incident on Hidden Lakes Road North of Abbeville regarding Mr. Radford Jerido, being recovered from a pond after being reported missing. Sheriff Rodgers also reported 44 arrests for the month and $12,000 in citations were written.

EMS Director Charles Futch, reported that they responded to 107 calls down 20 calls from the previous month. Futch also provided an update that he had acquired trauma bags, filing cabinets, long spine boards, and pediatric spine boards and other equipment at no cost to the county, some of the items were brand new and unopened. 

EMA Director Larry Brown reported on the incident regarding Mr. Jerido, he stated that the EMA from Wheeler County came to assist with their boat with sonar, that helped located Mr. Jerido’s body in the pond. Brown thanked all who helped in the recovery.

An appointment of Chairman and two members of the board of Elections were voted in.  Don Roberts was voted in as Chairman and members of the Board of Elections was Barbara Bailey and Gene Tomlinson.
