Lois Westbrook Sims

Lois Westbrook Sims, 94, passed away Friday, August 18, 2017 at Cordelia Manor. She was a native of Cordele and the daughter of the late Clyde and Cleo Page Westbrook. Lois was also preceded in death by her husband, William F. Sims; sister, Wynelle Brooker; and brothers, Grady Westbrook and Milton Westbrook.  A devout Catholic, she was a member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Cordele. Lois worked in the community all her life. She was a past manager of Sears & Roebuck and co-owner of Sims Citi-Service Gas Station. She also worked as head bookkeeper at several propane gas companies and after she retired co-owned Sims Gas Station and Grocery store on Highway 300 and L&W Bonding Company, Inc. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Milt Collins of Cordele; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Brian and Lori Hobbs of Cordele; four great-grandchildren, Kristen Hobbs, Brook Hobbs, Taylor Ellenberg and Tucker Ellenberg, all of Cordele; brother and sister-in-law, Louis and Nancy Westbrook; two sisters-in-law, Genelle Westbrook and Elsie Rhodes; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church with the committal service following in Morningside Cemetery in Rochelle. The family will receive friends Monday, August 21, 2017 following the Rosary that will be held at 6:00 p.m. at Rainey Family Funeral Services.
