CORDELE- Emmie Cox, 93, died Sunday, August 20, 2017, at Crisp Regional Hospital. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Antioch Baptist Church. Dr. John Smith officiated the services and Mike Farrow gave the eulogy. Burial followed in the Zion Hope Cemetery Annex.

Barry Coffee, pianist, played before and after the service. Colton Farrow, guitarist, accompanied himself as he sang “Amazing Grace” and “Sweet, Sweet, Spirit.”

Honoring Mrs. Cox by serving as active pallbearers were: Mike Farrow, Steve Farrow, Colton Farrow, Greyson Farrow, Jacob Fleming and Dillon Farrow.

Emmie was born in Crisp County and was the daughter of the late Henry Michael Childers and the late Amanda Posey Childers. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Dr. Arthur Lee Cox, and her brother, K. D. Childers.

Emmie graduated from Georgia State College for Women and received her Master Degree from Valdosta State University. She taught school in several counties including Crisp, Tift, Houston and Clayton. She loved the children she taught and was proud of their accomplishments. Emmie was a faithful member of Antioch Baptist Church and a charter member of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority.

Emmie loved her family and always enjoyed their visits. She enjoyed doing needle work and reading. She especially enjoyed reading her Bible and studying devotionals.

Survivors include her daughter: Joy (James) Farrow of Cordele; her son: Denny (Carol) Cox of Remington, Va.; her sisters: Jean Ryals of Cordele and Audrey (Grady) Brock of Arabi; her sister-in-law: Sara Childers of Cordele; her grandchildren: Michael (Robbie) Farrow, Dedra (Kerry) Fleming, Steve (Wendy) Farrow, Amanda (Wade) Knoech and Heather (Corey) Jacobs; her great-grandchildren: Colton (Katie) Farrow, Greyson Farrow, Jacob Fleming, Joshua Fleming, Dillon Farrow, Skylar Farrow, Lily Farrow, Emersyn Knoech, Tristan Knoech, Linzey Knoech, Peyton Jacobs, Cooper Jacobs, Sawyer Jacobs; her special friends and caregivers: Sammie Fields and Denise Coleman.
