CORDELE —The City of Cordele added one more train to the town Tuesday morning with the unveiling of a new locomotive sculpture.

The sculpture was joint effort between South Georgia Technical College, Cordele based Big Tex Manufacturing, Cordele Main Street and the Crisp County Arts Alliance.

“The arts have a way of extenuating the positive and hopefully the negative,” said Executive Director Miriam Edwards.

Cordele City Manager Edward Beach during the presentation said the true heroes and artists of this was the South Georgia Tech welding class, many of which are Crisp County natives.

The train is one of a few projects Cordele Main Street is undertaking as they try to revitalize the downtown Cordele area. The sculpture is located at 105 East 9th Avenue.
