Gary Peavy

Gary Peavy, age 70, of 2410 Forehand Road, Vienna, died Sunday, September 3, 2017, at University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.

Born in Vienna, he was the son of the late Emmett Marshall Peavy and Linnie Andrews Peavy.  He worked in the agricultural field for over 40 years.

For many years, Gary was a member of Liberty Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, taught SundaySchool, led the singing and served as youth leader.  Later, he became a member of Vienna United Methodist Church where he served on the Board of Trustees and served as Communion Steward.

Gary had a great love of gospel music.  He was a member of the Praise Singers Quartet in the 1970’s and 1980’s and continued going to gospel concerts until his death.

It was obvious to everyone that Gary loved his wife, Kathie.  He was devoted to his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Above all, Gary truly loved his Lord.

He is survived by his wife, Kathie Peavy of Vienna; his daughter, Paige and Tony Jones of Cordele; his sons, Mark and Robin Peavy of Byromville, Matt and Stacey Peavy of Vienna, James and Tamara Ledford of Watkinsville and Justin Ledford of Savannah; his sisters, Faye and Gene DeLoach of Unadilla, Gaye Gibbs of Hawkinsville, Brenda Bennett of Rex and Connie and William Henry of Stone Mountain; 12 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; the mother of his children, Elaine Peavy of Cordele; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11 AM Thursday, September 7 in Vienna United Methodist Church with interment in Vienna City Cemetery.

The family will greet friends 5 – 7 PM Wednesday, September 6 at the funeral home.
