CORDELE — Following three weeks off from football due to bye weeks and inclement weather, taking the field was a relief in itself for Fullington Academy Head Coach Lee Hamner and Trojan football team.

On Friday, they travelled to Dawsonville Christian Academy (3-2) and fell by a score of 51-6.

“It was a game that showed we hadn’t played in three weeks,” Hamner said. “Hopefully we got it out of our system and we’ll come back this week having focus and intensity in practice.”

After a quick 2-0 start to the season, Fullington has been outscored by a combined 93-6 in the past two games.

This week they’ll have an opportunity to right the ship in a big way. They take on Georgia Christian from Valdosta (3-2) in a home region matchup.

The Trojans defeated Georgia Christian last year by a score of 18-14. This year it appears to be another close game between the two.

The Generals are also coming off a loss last week after starting the season off 3-1.

What makes this game special for Fullington is it is homecoming for the school.

“It’s going to take all 48 minutes against a good football team to get the win,” Hamner said.
