VIENNA — Dooly County began a win streak following a blowout win against Crawford County on Friday night.

A week previously the Bobcats recorded their first win. This past week they scored the most points in the past five years. The last time Dooly County scored 56 points was four years and two days prior on October 11, in a 56-0 win over Central High School.

A tough out of region schedule has proven to be beneficial to head coach Jimmy Hughes not only for experience for the players, but also in the Class A power rankings.

Dooly County barely on the outside looking in on the 24 team playoff race. One reason, despite their 2-5 record is the competition they have played.

Crisp County (5-1), ranked No. 6 in AAA; Dodge County (7-0), ranked No. 8 in AA; and Macon County (5-2), ranked No. 3 in the A Public are three teams that the Bobcats have played and hung with this year.

Junior quarterback Bo Lawson followed up his 314 all purpose (144 passing, 170 rushing) yards and four touchdowns against Hawkinsville with an even better performance against Crawford.

Lawson once again played a part in the win with four more touchdowns, three passing and one rushing. An efficient day through the air, passing 9-11 for more than 200 yards forced defenses to respect the passing game.

Seniors Desi Lester, three receptions for 77 yards and a touchdown, and P.J. Taylor (two receptions for 18 yards and a score) were two of Lawson’s favorite targets on the day.

The Bobcat offense ground out 271 yards on the ground on just 18 carries as a team. Lawson led the way with 139 yards on five carries and a score, while junior running back Reggie Smith added two more scores on three carries for 37 yards.

The 56-18 win puts Dooly at No. 27 in the Class A power rankings. Up next for the Bobcats is a tough in region matchup against No. 15 ranked Taylor County (6-1) at home.
