Funeral services for Joe Rueben Brown, Sr. of Cordele will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 25, 2017 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services and burial will follow in Sunnyside cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Joe, 74, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2017 at his residence.  Born in Dooly County, he was the son of the late William I Brown and Edith Roberson Brown. Joe was a retired truck driver and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He enjoyed life and time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Virginia McKinney Brown of Cordele; four children, Joe R. Brown, Jr. of Cordele, Tammie M. Smith and her husband, Alan, and Joel Thomas Brown, all of Seville, and James Hinson of Warner Robins; a brother Billy Brown of Winder; and 11 grandchildren, Joe, III and Whitney Brown, Amy Marie Brown, Tiffany and Josh Avery, Kayla Smith and her fiancé, Scotty Sprague, Randy Smith and his fiancée, Heather Blackwell, Joseph Smith and his fiancée, Jordon Key, J.T. and Morgan Brown, Jason Brown and his fiancée, Beth Poole, Jacob Brown, Alexis Eros and Crystal Brown; and 17 great-grandchildren.
