Christmas Light from Heaven

The Shepherds came at night to see One who shines bright. Through darkness, they walked and marveled at the angels’ talk. This host of angels announced some good news for everybody about a special baby born in a little town called Bethlehem. The angels glowed in the darkness but they were very dim when compared to Him who is the Savior of the world. Meanwhile, Joseph and Mary stood in awe of everything happening before their eyes. They had front row seats to watch the one and only perfect child grow up in the land of Galilee in Nazareth.

The long awaited Messiah promised in the Old Testament was come to Earth. Therefore, two mature believers stepped forward to speak about the strong, steadfast, eternal hope bundled up inside those swaddling clothes in the manger. Simeon and Anna spoke as respected leaders in the community who studied the Scriptures and knew for sure Jesus is the one who comes to fulfill God’s promises concerning salvation and a glorious future for believers. As mature believers, Simeon and Anna felt so blessed to see the Christ in person.

Later, other visitors came to see Jesus, who is God in the flesh. Then the wise men by a star came seeking from afar. They bowed before Baby Jesus presenting their expensive gifts. Since God led the wise men, he chose to make a star move to the spot over where Jesus and his family lived. Though the men were rich and powerful in their own country, they knew the Lord Jesus Christ is greater than all and bowed before Jesus as the Savior and Ruler of Heaven and Earth.

As Jesus grew from boyhood to manhood, he talked and walked like no other person before or after him. In life Jesus Christ did right and beat the prince of night. This evil prince who is the Devil who dwells in darkness and seeks to hinder people from coming to the light of Jesus Christ. As Christmas approaches, we have another opportunity to turn away from the deeds of darkness to the glorious light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. God is all light and no darkness. The Lord shines brighter than the Sun and the light of Christ will never burn out for eternity. “Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, I am the light of the world. He who follows me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life,” (John 8:12).
