Thomas Wastine “T. W.” Kilcrease, Sr.

CORDELE – Funeral services were held for Thomas Wastine “T.W.” Kilcrease, Sr. at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2018 in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. Rev. Billy Forrest and Rev. Don Cole officiated the services with T.W.’s nephew, Orvie White speaking as well. Burial followed in Sunnyside Cemetery with Rev. Damon Fountain saying the closing prayer.

Eric Parker, pianist, played for the service. “While He Stills Knows Me” and “Dancing in the Sky” were played. Active pallbearers were: Pat Posey, Art Posey, Guy Combass, Randy Bishop, Orvie White and Jimmy Warren. Honorary pallbearers were area funeral directors.

Mr. Kilcrease, 88, died earlySundaymorning, Jan. 28, 2018 at Crisp Regional Hospital. He was born in Doles, Ga. to John Monroe Kilcrease and Minnie Alderman Kilcrease. He is preceded in death by beloved Devada “Bot” White Kilcrease. He is also preceded in death by his siblings: Ottie Irene Meeks, Joseph Leon Kilcrease, Olaf Marlon Kilcrease, Emma Ida Posey, Malcolm Woodrow Kilcrease, John Mitchell Kilcrease, Willie Phortice Harper and Joyce Elizabeth Jolly.

He was a United States Army veteran of Korean War and member of Northern Heights Baptist Church. He participated in church until recent months. He was active in the Northern Heights Baptist Church Food Program and the family suggests memorial contributions be made there in his memory (NHBC Food Program, 1102 East 8th Ave., Cordele, GA 31015.) He was also an avid Atlanta Braves fan.

He was well known in the agricultural circle in the Crisp County area having worked at Noble & Chandler Peanut Company, McCay Peanut & Grain and B & W Farm Center. He was retired from the Georgia Department of Labor.

He is survived by his two sons: Thomas Wastine “Tommy” Kilcrease, Jr. of Cordele and Monte Lee Kilcrease of Lakeland, Ga.; two sisters-in-law: Ruby Kilcrease of Cordele and Imogene White of Summerville; a granddaughter: Haley Kilcrease: a great-grandson: Ashton Straka; and special family members: Addie White, Heather and Dr. Kim White and Sandra Sanders.
