CORDELE – On Tuesday, February 6 Cordele City Commissioners discussed arranging a workshop with city and county commissioners along with city and county fire department heads about a mutual-aid proposal. City Commissioner Wesley Rainy explained that the proposal would have Cordele City Fire Department help with an area of north Crisp County that needs more fire coverage. Plans to build a fire station for that area has been pushed back to 2022, so for now there’s a need there.

Most commissioners were against the idea, along with Fire Chief Telfair. Despite opposition, Chairman John Wiggins is going to arrange a workshop to discuss the proposal in further detail and answer any questions commissioners had. No decision was made.
