REIDSVILLE- The Crisp County Cougars advanced to the second round of the GHSA AAA state tournament on Saturday night with an impressive upset win on the road against the Tattnall County Warriors, the number one seed in the quadrant. The victory moved the Cougars into the round of 16 where they will now face Westside Macon tonight.

Junior guard KJ Williams provided some big numbers on Saturday night to help spark the Cougars to the upset victory. He put up 27 total points during the game, while knocking down six out of seven three point attempts, and going nine for 12 overall on shot attempts. Williams also pulled in four rebounds and three steals, while also dishing out two assists. He has been the leading scorer this year for Crisp County, averaging just shy of 13 points per game.

RJ Chambliss also had a very productive night for the Cougars as he finished the game with 16 points, four rebounds and two assists. Quay Walker and TJ Ming both put in decent work for Crisp County in the post. Walker ended the contest with eight points, eight rebounds and two blocks, while Ming grabbed seven rebounds, scored six points, and had two steals.

Point guard Alex Harvey ran the offense well in the game, scoring six points and dishing out four assists, while also pulling in three rebounds and a steal. Sophomore Ty Mckenzie pitched in six points and three rebounds in the game for the Cougars.

Westside Macon should prove to be a tough opponent for the Cougars, as the Seminoles have amassed a 19-10 overall record this season with a fairly tough schedule to this point. The Seminoles ended up as the two seed in their quadrant after falling to rivals Central Macon in the 4-AAA region title game. They defeated Islands out of Savannah 65-57 to punch their ticket to the second round.

Tipoff is set for tonight at six at Westside Macon High School.

Update: The Cougars were defeated by Westside Macon 75-64 in the second round of the state playoffs.
