Helen was preceded in death by her first husband John Julius Mckinney and her second husband Raymond C. Bard

Helen was always an active member of the United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She volunteered with the Retirees Association of the Georgia Regents University/Medical College of Georgia. She was a past member of the Italian American Club of the CSRA.

She attended Augusta College and worked for the Coca Cola Company in Atlanta and also the dental practice of her first husband John J. McKinney. She was working at the Medical College of Georgia when she met her second husband Raymond C. Bard.

For many years, she enjoyed working with her passion for antique clothing, lace and jewelry. Her shop was located in the Augusta Antique Mart and she was affectionately known as the “Lace Lady” by her many clients around the world.

Helen enjoyed sewing and needlepoint point and well into her 80s produced beautiful pillows and clothing from the antique lace she had collected. Flowers were also a passion, and she kept beautiful African Violets and Pink Mandevillas.

Perhaps her greatest love, were her children and grandchildren and she sparkled with excitement at the mention of their names.

“Grace” can be hard to define, but easy to identify and Helen Bard was the essence of “Grace”. She was ever positive in her outlook and optimism and was always the light in any room.

She is survived by her Brother Denzil Cofer of Cordele and her Sons, John McKinney (Ursula), William McKinney, also Raymond Bard(Jeanette), Cindy Carruthers, Laura Malcolm(David) and Grandchildren Christina McKinney, John McKinney, Elizabeth McKinney, Eric Bard, Lisa Krakowski, Steven Dorris, Sarah Gosnell and Jennifer Kincheloe.
