CORDELE- The Crisp County Board of Education met for their regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, June 5.

The Board approved the site for the new Crisp County Middle School across from the Primary School.

Next on the agenda, was the approval for top dressing the football game field, practice field and baseball game field, which is done every other year in order to keep the fields in good playing shape. The recommended low bid of $12,722.50 from T. W. Washinger was accepted for the work on the fields.

The Board then voted 6-0 in favor of confirming new personnel, including Coach Jimmy Hughes to the Athletic Director position. Coach Hughes most recently was the Athletic Director and Head Football Coach at Dooly County High School.

“It has been a long journey. I have been gone for a few years,” said Coach Hughes. “You learn a lot once you leave home and go off with other folks’ kids. I just look forward to working with my home kids and the parents and faculty in trying to make our school system not only the best athletically that we can, but academically as well. So I appreciate the board’s support, and the support from the people of this community.”

The next scheduled meeting for the Crisp County Board of Education will be a work session held on July 5.
