Cleon Earle “Mac” Maxon

Cleon Earle “Mac” Maxon of Cordele passed away Monday, June 25, 2018 at Cordelia Manor. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lita Fincher Maxon. Born in Pittsfield, MA. A graveside memorial service for Mac will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Born in Pittsfield, MA, he was the son of the late Cleon Clark Maxon and Gladys Rathburn Maxon. A veteran of the United States Army, Mac served his country during World War II. He was an appraiser (RET) and an active member of Cordele First United Methodist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class. He loved his family and his church family. A man who never met a stranger and a heart filled with compassion, he always put the needs and concerns of others above his own. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Diane and Joe Cook of Cordele, Daniel Clark Maxon of Tucson, AZ and Michael Allen and Mary Jane Maxon of Rebecca; seven, grandchildren, Lynn Garten, Mac Cook, Robert Holmes, Tammy Maxon, Michael Maxon, Elizabeth Walls and Dennis Maxon; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was also survived by his wife’s siblings that he considered his. They are brother-in-law, Leonard Fincher and sisters-in-law, Alice Faye Chamblee and Jean Mims. Memorial gifts to the Food Pantry at Cordele First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 871, Cordele, GA 31015 would please the family.
