Ray Farrow

Funeral services for Ray Farrow, 86 of Cordele, were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2018 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services with Rev. Larry Rawlins officiating. Sweet words of remembrance were given by Mike Farrow and Mallory Edwards. Colton Farrow accompanied himself on the guitar and sang “Knowing What I Know About Heaven.” Ben Drinnon led the congregation in singing “Turn You Eyes Upon Jesus.” Pallbearers were Mike Farrow, Steve Farrow, William Edwards, Sam Farrow, Jr., Rusty Aultry and Ivan Helms. The interment followed in Penia Baptist Church Cemetery. Ray passed away peacefully during the night Friday, June 22 at home with his beloved wife at his side. He was a man of many talents from carpentry and gardening to baking and housekeeping. He was a patient and loving husband and caregiver to his wife of 64 1/2 years. He was also a proud father to three daughters who blessed him with six granddaughters and two great-granddaughters. Ray proudly served in the US Navy on the USS Bairoko. His navy tours included the Korean War and nuclear testing in the Pacific. After his navy service, he was employed by the US Marine Corp Logistics Base in Albany, Ga for 35 years. His family will miss him, especially his entertaining stories. Survivors include his wife, Ann Roberts Farrow of Cordele; three daughters and their husbands, Rhonda and Steven Wheat of Goodland, KS, Peggy and Al Dixon of Richmond Hill and Janice and Mitch Mitchell of Cordele; six grandchildren, Mallory Edwards and her husband, William, Brittany Wheat, Kellie Dixon, Carol Anne Mitchell, Morgan Dixon and Ila Mitchell; two great-grandchildren, Amelia Fulling and Margaret Edwards; two brothers and their wives, Sammy and Gay Farrow and James and Joy Farrow, all of Cordele; a sister, Jeanine Kilby and her husband, Dwight of Oakwood; and several nieces and nephews. The family request that memorials be made to Penia Baptist Church Building Fund, 3738 Old Penia Road, Cordele, GA 31015. Arrangements are by Rainey Family Funeral Services.
