Wilcox County votes to proceed with USDA grant application to purchase SUVs

ABBEVILLE– At a special called meeting Tuesday, the Wilcox County Board of Commissioners, voted to approve and go forward with the USDA Grant applications process for the purchase of SUV’s for the EMS and Magistrate Court. The application process was started two years ago. Mrs. Marcetta Little, Loan Specialist with the Tifton USDA office met with commissioners and discussed in detail the application, the duties and responsibilities of commissioners regarding the grant and use of funds. There is a separate application for each vehicle in both grant applications the maximum amount of the grant is $25,000, leaving the county responsible for the balance of the purchase which are EMS SUV $20,725.00 and Magistrate Court SUV $20,764.00. The actual cost of the vehicles may be more or less depending on the current bids received for the vehicles. There being no further business the meeting was adjourned. The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Wilcox BOC is Tuesday August 07, 2018 at 6:30pm in the Commissioners meeting room at the Courthouse in Abbeville.
