CCHS softball adds run-rule wins against Peach County and Monroe

CORDELE- The Crisp County High School softball team won road games this week against Peach County on Tuesday, and at Monroe High School in Albany on Thursday.

Lady Cougars 21, Peach County 1

The Lady Cougars traveled to Fort Valley for a game against Peach County on Tuesday afternoon. Crisp County put 10 runs on the board in the first inning, nine in the second and two in the third to run away with a run-rule 21-1 win after just three innings.

The big hit in the first inning was a grand slam that came off the bat of Riley Blampied. Olivia Taylor picked up two RBIs on a base hit, while Peyton Bozeman and Shelbi Cobb each added an RBI in the inning. Blampied, Kirin Webb and Ainslee Forsythe all scored two runs in the inning, while Taylor, Jo Brady, Megan Bloodworth and Cobb each scored a run apiece for the 10-0 score going into the bottom half of the first.

Webb was a key part of the second frame with a two RBI single, a stolen base and a run scored. Forsythe, Taylor, Brady and Macy West each had an RBI in the inning. The Lady Cougars led 19-1 after two innings.

The final two Crisp County runs came in the top of the third on an RBI double from Blampied and an RBI single by Brady for the 21-1 final score. Caitlyn Bellew and Abby Shiver both reached base on walks in the game after entering as pinch hitters. Bloodworth and Webb scored the runs in the frame. The game was called for a run-rule victory for the Lady Cougars after three innings of play.

Peyton Adkins pitched for Crisp County and finished with three innings pitched, allowing one run on two hits and four walks while striking out six batters.

Blampied finished the game with three hits in three at bats with five RBIs and four runs scored.

Lady Cougars 17, Monroe 0

The Lady Cougars then added a region win over Monroe High School on Thursday in another run-rule three-inning game.

Rilee Duckworth was the winning pitcher for the Lady Cougars with a three inning complete game in which she struck out six batters.

Blampied finished the contest 2-2 at the plate with two singles and a walk, while Bloodworth was 2-2 as well with a double, a walk and one single. Brady, West and Cobb each collected hits on the day as well.

Crisp County is now 11-2 on the season with a 3-0 record in region play after the two wins this week. Up next for the Lady Cougars is a big rematch with the Coffee County Lady Trojans on Monday in Cordele with first pitch set for 5:30. Coffee won the first meeting between the two teams in extra innings 5-4 earlier this season. Crisp will then continue region play on Thursday afternoon with a double header of region games at Worth County starting at 4 p.m.
