ALBANY- The Crisp County Middle School football team improved their record to 3-0 on the season with a 38-6 win over Radium Middle School (Dougherty Co.) on Wednesday afternoon.

In the first quarter, after a nice opening return by Adrion Holton, quarterback, Jock Colson broke loose on a 29-yard run taking the ball all the way to RMS 13-yard line for a Cougar first down.  CJ Jones then broke loose on a jet sweep for a Cougar touchdown and a 6-0 Crisp lead.

The Cougar special teams then forced a turnover and their offense was right back on the field. A big run by Colson set up another Jones touchdown for a 12-0 lead for the Cougars. Jones also added the two-point conversion to make the score 14-0 Crisp.

On the very next play, the Crisp County special teams did it again, forcing another turnover. The Cougar defense finally came on the field after the offense was stopped. The Crisp defense then decided to join in on the scoring party, forcing the center to snap the ball over the Radium quarterback’s head and Ke’Eric Merrell picked it up putting the Cougars up 20-0. A run by Jones added the following two-point conversion making it 22-0 Cougars.

In the second quarter, Colson broke loose on a run for a 30-yard touchdown to put the Cougars ahead 30-0 going into halftime.

A Radium punt return for a touchdown made the score 30-6 in the third quarter, and later on Cougar quarterback, Dylan Davis, connected with Mike Waters for a 40-yard touchdown. Jones again added the two-point conversion and the Cougars won by the final score of 38-6.

CCMS Head Coach, Scottie Montford, commented after the game about the team’s ability to control the contest on all three phases.

“We won all three phases of the game. The special teams forced two turnovers led by Jaylin Weitman. Defense scored a touchdown for three straight games led by Omar ‘Boo Man’ White, Courvoise McGill and Julian Fox, and also some big plays from Marey Smith. Offense has dominated for two consecutive weeks, led by Semaj Chattfield, CJ Jones and Jock Colson,” said Montford. ”That’s how you dominate a football team. GO COUGARS.”
